When The River
Turns Back

Clothing, as a second layer of skin, serves as an expression of personal will. After China's Reform and Opening-up, individuals gained the freedom to fully express themselves through attire. I repurpose old garments from the 1980s and 1990s to create various objects and integrate them into real-world scenarios through performative usage. Using my body and actions as an independent individual, I interpret the symbolic meanings of these objects in modern urban spaces and abandoned factories. Through this, I aim to reimagine the social atmosphere of 1980s and 1990s China and respond to the increasingly ineffable present.
